Project introduction

Ontology is an expression of human knowledge in type of that computer understands. Schema and instances constitutes ontology. Schema is a tool for keeping information and instance is the actual concept and knowledge in the tool. For example, “Television will be digitally broadcasted” is schema, and “Jumong is digitally broadcasted by Bordeaux TV” is actual instance.

Ontology constructed through schema and instances may be utilized for various software. Especially, ambiguity of words and concepts may be resolved intellectual software development is possible through reasoning. Ontology is used in various projects such as intellectual robot, home network and RFID/USN in addition to ubiquitous projects. However, when all of those projects construct and use their own ontology, there are similar concept in those ontology which is not the original objectives of ontology construction. And when there is a need to incorporate two of the project in one, ontology may have to build again. Accordingly, a nationally standardized and a mutually operational ontology construction is needed through integration.

“CoreOnto (Core Ontology) Project” is to build “national IT ontology” to meet this national IT need and for utilization for international guideline. National IT ontology is built those ontologies such as device, service and life in addition to IT core ontology on top of the basic ontology.

And the constructed national IT ontology may be utilized for various services such as u-life, ubiquitous IT service and IT knowledge portals, etc.

Objectives of Project

Final objectives of the project is to build national IT ontology as a softinfraware and to develop ontology infrastructure technology and service system based on ontology. Ontology construction is the key and this must be inspected through development and utilization of inspection tool. Saltlux participates in development of the ontology instance creation and intellectual service system parts.
